Term 2 Week 5

This week we have been learning about Matariki and the activities that early Maori use to do when the days got shorter and colder in preparation for winter.

We did some flax weaving and creating. Many of us found this difficult, but we applied our 'growth mindset' to keep trying. We looked at kowhawhai patterns to add to our Maori Kite art which we will finish this coming week. We learned about the nine stars and of Matariki what each one of them represents.
